Dr. Felicity Sapp, R. Psych.
Dr. Felicity Sapp is a psychologist who works in private practice as the owner of OCD and Anxiety Psychological Services in Calgary, Alberta. Dr. Sapp’s area of specialization is CBT for anxiety disorders and OC Related Disorders, with an emphasis on OCD treatment with clients of all ages. Previously, Dr. Sapp worked in an intensive out patient program at The Anxiety Treatment Center in Sacramento, California. She treated clients of all ages with moderate to severe anxiety disorders.
Prior to her time in the US, Dr. Sapp practiced in a variety of different clinical settings with clients of all ages. Her position as a staff psychologist in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Hotel Dieu Hospital in Kingston, Ontario involved assessment and treatment of complex psychiatric disorders in both the mood and anxiety and general psychiatry outpatient services. She developed CBT programs for school-age children, and for teens with mood and anxiety disorders. She worked in the area of Pediatric Oncology where she defined the role and use of psychology within an existing multidisciplinary team and developed pre- and post-assessment protocols to determine the effects of cancer treatment. Dr. Sapp also worked as a clinician at Queen’s University Counseling Center providing CBT treatment to students. During her time in Kingston, Ontario, she was affiliated with both the Department of Psychiatry and Psychology at Queen’s University as a lecturer and provided teaching and supervision to medical and psychology students.
Dr. Sapp received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. She completed her internship training at the IWK Children’s Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia where she specialized in working with children and teens. She is certified by The Canadian Association of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy CACB as an expert in CBT. Dr. Sapp is an active member of the International OCD Foundation and regularly collaborates with leading clinicians in the area of OCD to publish and present annually at the IOCDF conference. She is part of the faculty of the Paediatric Behavior Therapy Training Institute for the International OCD Foundation and provides CBT teaching and supervision to trainees across North America. Dr. Sapp joined Anxiety Canada’s Scientific Advisory Committee in November 2017.
