Creating a MAP - PART 2
Sessions 4-6: Behavioral tools part 1 including physiological/feeling tools - These tools are designed to teach the child how to increase relaxation, and reduce or eliminate unwanted physiological arousal or anxiety. In addition, the child learns how to make an anxiety ladder that s/he will later “climb” as part of the exposure portion of his/her MAP.
Objectives: To help your child further his/her understanding about how anxiety presents in the body, and to learn how to decrease unwanted physical signs of anxiety by applying various relaxation tools. If your child chooses a tool s/he likes, you do not need to have them learn other relaxation tools if the one they have learned works well for them. The next objective is to complete your child’s ladder which will serve as a road map for all the things s/he will learn to do during this work.
