Creating a MAP - PART 3
Sessions 7-9: Cognitive, or thinking tools- These tools are designed to promote smart thinking and increase confidence. Combined with the previous section, behavioural tools part 1, these tools will help prepare your child to engage in the final section, which will have him/her confront anxiety by engaging in exposure work.
Objectives: To help your child learn how thinking can impact anxiety, making it worse or making it better. Your child will learn a variety of “thinking” tools designed to reduce unwanted or excessive anxiety. Once again, if your child gets the point right away, you do not need to persist in teaching additional tools if these seem unnecessary.
