Chilliwack Alternate Schools Program - Since September 2015, Anxiety Canada has offered expertise to Middle and Secondary School educators and students of Chilliwack District's Alternate Education Program. Social anxiety is a constant challenge for many students, resulting in school avoidance and possible failure. The ultimate goal of this collaboration is to strengthen knowledge and skills of educators, outreach workers, and students about anxiety and anxiety management using resources from www.anxietycanada.com and the MindShift app. With additional funding we anticipate scaling up to other districts working with at risk and/or indigenous children and youth.
Our sponsors and partners include: Education Without Borders, the RBC Children's Mental Health Project, and Coast Capital Savings.
Education without Borders (EwB) provides educational opportunities for disadvantaged and at-risk children through initiatives in South Africa and Canada, including after-school support programs in Math, English, Science, school leadership and youth mentorship. Skaha Lake Middle School – Healthy Living Course In 2015, Anxiety Canada collaborated on the development of anxiety modules for the Health Living course at Skaha Lake Middle School. The outline and content of the modules was developed with direct links to our anxiety resources at www.anxietycanada.com and the MindShift app. One hundred and twenty students directly benefitted. This support was provided directly to the counselor at the school. The anxiety curriculum will be shared for many years to come with grade 8 students at this school and beyond.
