Annual Report to Donors

A Message about Our Future

We created our 2024 annual report before making the difficult decision to close our doors.

Founded in 1999, Anxiety Canada has spent over two decades empowering Canadians with free, evidence-based resources to understand and manage anxiety. From parents and caregivers to educators and clinicians, we’ve supported millions through our commitment to accessible, practical mental health tools.

While this is not the outcome we wanted, Anxiety Canada must close its doors due to a lack of sustainable funding. This difficult decision reflects a broader systemic issue: mental health resources remain underfunded, even as the need continues to grow.

Despite this heartbreaking news, we are incredibly proud of the legacy we leave behind.

OUR IMPACT AT A GLANCE

  • MindShift CBT App: With over 1.5 million lifetime downloads and 27,000 monthly users, our award-winning app helped people find relief with free, evidence-based tools and peer support in the Community Forum.
  • MindShift Groups: 323 participants completed our 12-session group therapy program, with 110 fully subsidized. We ran 38 groups over five years, with life-changing results and overwhelmingly positive feedback.
  • My Anxiety Plan: Our free online anxiety courses for children, teens, adults, and educators provided practical, evidence-based strategies to thousands of users.
  • Educational Resources: Millions of people visited our website each year to access our videos, PDFs, and educational guides, including the CARD Toolkit and AAD Educator Toolkit.
  • Public Education & Advocacy: Through events, panels, and campaigns, we educated Canadians and advocated for improved mental health access.
  • #OurAnxietyStories: Our podcast helped break the stigma around anxiety and OCD over 71 episodes, featuring guests from media, sports, healthcare, and more.
  • Strategic Partnerships: We reached new audiences through our collaborations with national and provincial charities and organizations, including Beneva, the Bateman Foundation, Canadian Coalition for Seniors’ Mental Health, Immunize Canada, SickKids | AboutKidsHealth, and more. Additionally, our collaboration with TELUS Health MyCare helped over 400 people receive free one-on-one counselling.
  • Digital Reach: We gained over 8.5 million views across our YouTube and TikTok channels. Through educational videos, including our animated series for children, Caretoons, our audience learned about anxiety and OCD in an engaging, accessible way.
