Dr. Christine Purdon

Dr. Purdon completed her MA and PhD at the University of New Brunswick, working with Dr. David A. Clark, and completed her Residency at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health under Dr. Martin Antony’s supervision. Dr. Purdon joined the Department of Psychology at the University of Waterloo in 1997, studying OCD and anxiety, teaching cognitive-behaviour therapy, and providing CBT for adults with anxiety and related difficulties.

She has more than 80 peer-reviewed publications, was a Subject Matter Expert for the Ontario Structured Psychotherapy Program, and her self-help book, Overcoming Obsessive Thoughts, co-authored by Dr. David Clark, has sold over 50,000 copies. Dr. Purdon’s current programs of research examine the development and persistence of compulsions and OCD, and anxiety over climate change.
